With a team of almost 200,000 and over 3,000 stores across almost every community in Australia, we quickly recognised the important role we needed to play as the COVID-19 pandemic increased.

Guided by health advice and looking for best practice initiatives in nations going through similar circumstances, we adopted proven safety measures and education, to help our teams play their part in supporting health and safety in their communities.

Our efforts were focussed on our 5 pillars: PPE, Health, Hygiene, Cleaning and Social Distancing.

Plexiglass and acrylic dividers at our checkouts

We’ve installed clear plexiglass and acrylic dividers in the checkout areas of our stores across the Group to support social distancing and reduce the potential for community transmission between team and customers.

Face coverings

Wearing a face covering can help protect you and those around you in an area with community transmission, and where physical distancing is not possible.

Face coverings can help stem the flow of droplets and airborne particulates (source control), or can be protective.

We have supplied face coverings to all our stores across the Group, making them available for team members who wish to use them, or where they have to use them in accordance with Government direction. We’ve also provided guidance on how to safely use them.

Gloves

We’ve made disposable gloves available to all team members who wish to use them across our stores. We’ve also provided training on how to safely use them.
