We have been notified that customers at our Bankstown BIG W store have tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The customers visited our store on Wednesday 6th January 2021 between 11:30am and 2:30pm and on Friday 8th January 2021 between 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
Anyone who was in the store at either of these times is required to get tested and isolate until they return a negative test result.
We’re notifying customers and contacting our team members. We will continue to act in line with advice from the health authorities.
As a retailer, we already have very high standards of cleaning and hygiene in place. As an extra precautionary measure, the store had an additional deep clean after hours.
While the risk of transmission to customers and team members is low, the safety and wellbeing of the local community is our priority.
Customers and team members should be assured they can continue to safely shop and work at our Bankstown store.
Any customers who shopped in our Bankstown store since Wednesday 6th January 2021 and becomes unwell in the next two weeks should make contact with the Department of Health and Human Services for advice.
BIG W became aware of the case on Sunday 10th January 2021 and BIG W has placed customer notifications in the store.
BIG W has special COVID-19 leave top-up provisions in place. This means our team members will not be financially disadvantaged based on their employment status or availability of personal leave if they contract COVID-19 or are required to self-isolate.
