We have been notified that a customer at our Bankstown BIG W store has tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The customer visited our store on Wednesday 6 January 2021 between 12:40pm and 12:50pm.
Anyone who was in the store at the time is required to monitor for symptoms and get tested if they occur.
We’re notifying customers and contacting our team members. We will continue to act in line with advice from the health authorities.
As a retailer, we already have very high standards of cleaning and hygiene in place. As an extra precautionary measure, the store had an additional deep clean after hours.
While the risk of transmission to customers and team members is low, the safety and wellbeing of the local community is our priority.
Customers and team members should be assured they can continue to safely shop and work at our Bankstown store.
Any customers who shopped in our Bankstown store since Wednesday 6 January 2021 and becomes unwell in the next two weeks should make contact with the Department of Health and Human Services for advice.
BIG W became aware of the case on the evening of 9th January 2021 and BIG W has placed customer notifications in the store.
BIG W has special COVID-19 leave top-up provisions in place. This means our team members will not be financially disadvantaged based on their employment status or availability of personal leave if they contract COVID-19 or are required to self-isolate.
