21 July 2020
We have been notified that a customer at our Carnes Hill BIG W store has tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The customer was in store on Tuesday 14th July and spent about 20 minutes at the store from 4:20pm to 4:40pm
We became aware of the case on 20th July 2020 at 5:30pm. We placed a customer notification up in multiple parts of the store
Our Carnes Hill customers were made aware as soon as we had confirmation with a notification in store.
As a retailer, we already have very high standards of cleaning and hygiene in place. As an extra precautionary measure, the store had additional deep clean on the 20th July.
While the risk of transmission to customers and team members is low, the wellbeing of our customers, team and communities is our highest priority, and in line with public health advice, we are taking all necessary steps to ensure ongoing safety in our stores.
Customers and team members should be assured they can continue to safely shop and work at our Carnes Hill store.
Any customers who shopped in our Carnes Hill store on Tuesday 14th July between 4:20pm to 4:40pm, and feel unwell in the two weeks that follow should make contact with the Department of Health and Human Services for advice.
